Yi Jing, Oracle of the Moon

Hex.3 and 4 are reflections of each other
Both about starting at zero. One tangible, the other mentally.

Hex.3 nothing exists yet, it has to be built and discovered from scratch.
Hex.4 nothing is known yet, it has to be learned and taught from scratch.

Hex. 49 and 50 are reflections of each other
Both are about an existing situation, one changing it, the other keeping it.

 Hex.49 changing a situation.
 Hex.50 upkeep of a situation.

Hex.3 and 50 are contrasts of each other
Contrasting situation and contrasting action, like two extremes, beginning and completion. Brandnew actions versus proved actions.

Hex.3 something completely new is starting, or has to be started. It is not clear yet how to do it, and nobody yet to help. It is like a little sprout which has the power to grow but nothing else yet.
Hex.50 there is a state and a ruler, who supervises it. Maybe as big as China, or maybe just you with your own mind and body. It is a complex and fully grown whole, and it has to be ruled in a wise way.

Hex. 4 and 49 are contrasts of each other
Contrasting situation and contrasting action, Knowing nothing and having to learn, versus having ideas and trying to implement them.

Hex.4 the mind is empty yet, it has to learn or one has to teach.
Hex.49 the mind wants to change things, has ideas and ideals.

Hex. 3 and 49 are contrasting reflections of each other
Reflected action, contrasted situation
Something new comes into being, something established needs renewal.

Hex.3 about new-from-scratch. Individual new beginning in your world.
Hex.49 about changing, renewing or even overturning the established.

Hex.4 and 50 are contrasting reflections of each other
Reflected action, contrasted situation
The youth has to learn, the seasoned ruler should know.
Or teaching wisdom and practicing wisdom.

Hex.4 is personal and empathic, the teaching of rules one-on-one.
Hex.50 is political and impersonal, the implementing of rules in a state.
