Hexagram Mirrors - Line Reflections
(line pathways)

Mirror group 39.6-53.6-40.1-54.1

About making the best of any situation

39.6 yin: To proceed: limping. To come: mastery. Auspicious. Fruitful to see great people.
Don't be satisfied with the common, stay alert for better ways.

53.6 yang: The wild geese gradually approach the highlands. Their feathers can be used for performing the ceremonies. Auspicious.
If you reach beyond yourself, you attain beyond yourself.

Lines 39.6 and 53.6 are each others fanyao, like views on the same landscape but from a different side, Water-Wind and vv. Asking for different actions.

  40.1 yin: Without fault.
Blame is useless. Repair what went wrong and/or learn from it.

54.1 yang: The marrying maiden as secondary wife. Lame yet able to walk. To set things right: auspicious.
Make the best of a situation within your abilities.

Lines 40.1 and 54.1 are each others fanyao, like views on the same landscape but from a different side, Water-Lake and vv. Asking for different actions.

Lines 39.6 and 40.1 and also 53.6 and 54.1 are each others qianyao (upside-down). Here are similar actions but in different landscapes (complementary contexts).
What was up, outside or mental, is now down, inside or physical.

Mirror groups 39.6-53. and 37.1-53.1 are contrasts
(all yang lines of Mirror 39.6 are yin lines in Mirror 37.1 and vv)
Mirror 39.6 is about making the best of any situation
Mirror 37.1 is about discerning danger and to protect
