Trigram Fire

Water
Hexagram 64 has trigram Water below or inside, Fire above or outside. Water is the shape-giver because it inspires everything on earth, giving it its own way of flowing. Fire turns it into visible and ordered creatures, plants, rocks, rivers and even air-currents.

What does it mean, 'inner' and 'outer trigram' (popup)

When trigram Water is below (popup)
When trigram Fire is above (popup)

Water below Fire: Water has no form, it adapts the form of its space. At the base of what happens, that means that everything it influences acquires the form inherent in its own possibilities and abilities, and also the form of the surroundings it happens to be in. Fire makes it happen, makes it visible, orders it and shows its unique qualities.

Wì i Jè
The old diviners gave this combination of trigrams a name: Wèi Jì, not yet across. It means that things are being created but didn't yet reach a final form. They still can grow into different results, so be careful what you do with or to them. It might have huge consequences.

Ideogram of the hexagram name: the first character (at the top) is a lush tree, promising fruit. Meanings: not-yet, taste, future, no, not right, that's not all, shortage, question mark. The second character is water or river and many same-level plants: a level crossing-place in a river: crossing or across, ferry, circulation, achievement, success, relief, adjustment, reinforcement.

The 'Great Image' says: Fire above water: not yet across. The noble one is cautious when differentiating things so that each finds its place.

Hex.64 is the contrast of 63, where everything is formed and finished and in its place.
Hex.64 is the moment of innumerable possibilites. Anything might come of this, it depends on its ‘genes’ (maybe your vision) and its surroundings - and what anything in its surroundigs does to it. The bees have visited the flowers, the petals fall off, but the fruit has yet to grow. Look after it but don't force it. More about 64

  Story:
The destination, the bank on the other side you think you have to reach, is not always what things are about. Maybe it is the road itself, the journey. The destination is just the compass, the direction. You need some ideal or star so you will not fall into the water of indecision or giving-up. It keeps you going.
Who knows in what wonderful place you might end up, if you let your heart, or the little miracles, or the love you encounter, or whatever else you meet on that journey, decide about the next turn on your road? Don’t let rigid decisions nor slackness direct your life, but embrace magic, play or even silliness, love and chance, the unexpected and the improbable. Who knows...
