Gui
is the hexagram of ‘the others’, which may be people, or gods and
spirits. On Gui-day the oracle was consulted, and everyone was
apprehensive about what would be. A good or bad harvest, an angry
ancestor when one has done something wrong or forgot an offering. Many
had reason for 'opposition eyes'. But it means also the unknown others
one stares at, those one feels different from, or simply are not
oneself: standing face to face with you, talking or silent, nice or
unfriendly. |
GUI3: The character consists of an offering mat for oblations (2) and two
eyes (1). The offering mat is a cyclical character: the one that
indicates yin water (bringing oblations?). The day of gui was the
day when the prognostications were made for the next period of 10 days,
and it was a kind of Sunday, no hard labor or expeditions and such.

head
and cut off nose. Without a beginning, there is an end.

Above
9: Looking askance, alone. Seeing a pig with mud
on its back, a cart loaded with ghosts. At first he draws his bow, later
he relaxes his bow. No bandit, a marital suitor. Proceeding encountering
rain: as a rule
auspicious. Make your looks and actions comprehensible for other people. If they have to guess about you or your aims, they might guess wrong and shoot. Never expect them to accept you just like that, give them reason to trust you. Show your intentions. A meeting is always tense until each knows the other, then comes relief. (Changes to hex.54) |

at 2: Meeting the master in an alley. Without
fault. Live YOUR life, not A life, adapting to the commonly accepted way of life and its rules. For you only your own rules - or universal rules - are valid. It is a huge compliment to be called weird, it proves your individuality. You have to play your own role, so go ahead. (Changes to hex.21) |

Regrets
go away. Their ancestor bites through the skin. Proceed, carry the
fault.

Regrets
go away. Lost horse, do not chase it, it returns by itself. Seeing evil
people, without
fault.

at 4:
Askance, alone. Meeting an eminent man.
Communication inspiring confidence.
Danger. Without fault. Learn to be alone. As long as loneliness is a problem, one embraces the first best person without seeing his negative sides, and the problem will only become bigger. A need is a bad guide in life. If you are aware of it and make a conscious choice, then it is not wrong. (Changes to hex.41) |

- expansion. Harvest - determination click HERE Image: 'Different' or separate (a man wearing a scary mask). Line 3. 'Bent head' is a character which resembles tian, 'heaven' very much. Here 'heaven' is usually translated with 'tattood forehead' or a similar meaning, but in this case I substituted the character, because it makes sense. lines 4 and 6: the character translated as 'alone' can also mean 'above average', 'excelling' |
